Kinlector Octalin Nerea
Each of us is carving a stone, erecting a column, or cutting a piece of stained glass in the construction of something much bigger than ourselves.
Description: Sun-kissed is an apt way to describe the Arean Kin elf, with his hair bleached blond by the seas and skin taken in a light tan. His hair is long and often kept pulled back neatly in a ponytail. There's a sense of structure to him, from his clothing to his Kinship's tattoos. Despite his sunny look he lacks the wind and wave weathered look; he's the kind of man to have dirt under his nails and his hands reflect more time with a quill than with a sword or on a ship.
Personality: Octalin has aspirations of following in the footsteps of the founder of his house and becoming an architect and builder, seeing designs on the page leap into being in stone and brick. He is a bit of a dreamer but instead of Loran's inspirational aspects he finds himself drawn to Torth and the more practical side of creation. He is level headed and neat, full of structure and order more than the wind-and-wave swept nature of many of his Kin. But when inspiration strikes he must get his ideas out all at once before they just bubble around endlessly in his brain.
Background: Most Aeran Kin follow their namesake goddess. Most Aeran Kin build ships. Octalin found himself drawn towards a different kind of building, a different kind of god. As a child he would wander the streets of Loramar and study the wild and inspiring styles of architecture left behind by the elves of yore, especially the buildings of his foremother Nerea Nalduine. He would sketch and draw them and add to it his own designs and aspirations. It was Torth's aspects of creation which called to him and he started to follow the builder-god as his own even if he honored them all.
He found himself thrust into the Kinlector position of his family as so many elves of his generation did, having to set aside his own dreams to manage the family affairs. But the Gods were kind and his brother knew that building Lorawin harbor would require the knowledge that Octalin possessed. The Lighthouse of Lorawin is his current masterpiece, though he knows he is too young to have hit his true peak. There is much more building to do.
He serves both his kin and his family and follows his passion; to see the city grow and become a beacon of beauty in this new world as both the Chief Architect and as Kinlector of Nerea. He will do whatever is in his power to ensure his brother leads them wisely and well, and that the Aeran kin thrive.
