Background: Almost twenty years after the death of his first wife during childbirth, Emek Sedriel met the woman that would become his second wife. He remained committed to his faith and raising his daughter Ayalith in it, but out of this union he was blessed by Brundir with a son, Merek. While his father often traveled to Thelos with Ayalith, Merek spent most of his time at home with his mother, often losing himself within his scrolls. Without having experienced Larandor as an adult, Merek romanticized the way things must have been in the Old World.
Merek found his passion in the study of pyromancy. Flame intrigues him as did his studies of the lifewell. One day, in his youth, Emek and his mother left on a journey. When his parents weren't found after a long while, Merek turned to his faith with Garwen and begged her to deliver his parents safely back home. She did not answer his prayer, but he was content regardless. She must have her reasons after all. He travels quite a bit, learning what he can about Larandor. But his focus now is on discovering more of the new world and honing his talents with the Lifewell.
