Description: With a hint of gold to his platinum white hair, Thorin gives off a sunny nature that escapes most Faenor. He stands taller than most elves but never gives an impression of looking down on someone. His blue eyes are the color of a sunlit sky and hold warmth. The soft lines of his face reflect a habit of smiling. He has the lean figure of someone who likes to get out into the world once in a while.

Personality: Thorin is a scholar, true, but one who values action over dry and dusty books. He favors Acharon as his patron because he sees the need for change and the potential for discovery and evolution that Aarandor brings. He balks at the stodgy nature of his Kin and prefers to be more sociable. He has a particularly sharp wit, which he keens with puns and humor rather than biting remarks.

Background: Where his brother Falron is serious and stodgy, Thorin is the opposite. The two were raised in a traditional way but took very different paths. Thorin preferred to be more liberal in his interpretations of tradition where his brother was following the very letter of law and their culture. Although he was being raised to be the scholar of the family, Thorin much enjoyed exploring their home and taking hikes in the lands surrounding their mountain city of Khelwen. He invented new climbing rigs so he can make his way up and down the cliffsides more readily. This led him to build a giant winch so they could more easily transport goods up and down to their city rather than have supply wagons climb the narrow roads leading to Khelwen. He came across several undiscovered caverns and soon added them to the city's maps.

When the Host attacked, both brothers answered the call. Thorin working with a degree of healing magics and Falron wading into battle. As the battles grew bloodier and bloodier, and the elves and their allies fell, Thorin did his best to cling to optimism. He did not share his brother's fatalistic views. Due to this, Thorin made the call to save Falron's life during one of the final battles. Falron had removed his helmet and was preparing to fight facing the Host, but Thorin quickly rushed over to his unit and knocked Falron out cold. He dragged his brother back into the medical tents and saved him. It was an act Falron would never forgive him for.

When they arrived in Aarandor, Thorin was eager to put his name in as a Portal Walker - both to represent his Kin and to get away from his brother for a little while. Plus he could not miss the chance for adventure in this strange new land. It led to a better understanding of his fellow Portal Walkers and a desire to find out more about how these portals actually work, studying them intently over the years. He's determined to unlock their secrets somehow.

Marriage: Diagones Egilion married Thorin Aenorr on 11/15/52 PA. He joined her family, becoming Thorin Egilion.

Relationship Summary

  • Falron - My brother the Blood Templar. I could not think of a better role he's suited for than serving the God of Oaths. He's got tunnel vision and can never see beyond the rule book shoved in front of his face. I love him dearly despite that. I don't regret what I did to save him even if it made him hate me for it.

  • Spouse:
  • Diagones - Brilliant, tenacious, and sweet, she is my beautiful forest blossom. She makes me whole. Forever is a long time, and I can't wait to see what we discover together in the centuries ahead.

  • Friend:
  • Relios - Relios has to have people around him he can trust and I consider myself one of them. He always treated me like the little brother he never had. He's also an optimist and while he shares my brother's views on oaths and honor, he's never looked down on me for being a little more flexible in my own outlook of tradition.
  • Alethia - My exploration partner. We will discover all of Aarandor together. All of it. Together.
  • Belstrom - My High Priest and my best friend. There's little better in this life than sharing a bottle and imagining all the possibilities Aarandor holds.

  • Ally:
  • Selene - She's changed since we first stepped through the portals. Desert-ed her kinship for love, and didn't even invite me to the wedding. I hope she hasn't lost her sense of wonder.
  • Ember - The Lorandi who came through the portal with us is a bit... firey. Literally and figuratively. She has a wanderlust like the rest of us who volunteered for what could have been a suicide mission. She almost set my hair on fire but I've forgiven her for it. It wasn't funny at the time but it is now.
  • Alexandria - Duindar aren't always as bookish as they are made out to be. Alexandria was more in touch with nature than a library. She and I discussed my mountain climbing activities and her forest explorations.
  • Nadaron - He's part Reid! Amazingly enough. I couldn't imagine his mother getting used to that desert heat though. He has impressive muscles but I suppose that comes from wrestling with desert lions and bears and the like. He was sad Thelos was abandoned and didn't find anything new there like manticores or wyverns.
