Action by Erotas

(Public Action, OOC Date: Aug. 7, 2019, 4:31 p.m.)

Erotas has decided, once again, to set off into the forest. This time, however, he's intending on finding the Archer once again. While he does new his new songs in Celestial to keep their spirits up, he's mostly wandering in hopes of finding her. Then, when they find her, getting to know her, her goals, her enemies, and being his charming self while pumping her for information on culture, current world, and this whole experience.

Kiros once again is going to set out with Erotas to find the Archer. They are very interested in speaking to her, and now that they know Celestial, they are able to do so without having to rely on just Erotas translating. They will help Erotas search, and use their ability to meld into trees to try speaking through them, to reach out to her and try to communicate that they wish to speak. Kiros apologizes on the Duindar's behalf for the burning of the trees, and tells her all about the efforts Kiros and others are going through to help the forest regrow even better than it was before. Otherwise, they are also focusing on trying to learn from the Archer. About her magic, her culture, and anything else she might want to know. Kiros talks about the magic the elves know in return, to try to form a relationship based on the share of knowledge.

Kiros and erotas made contact with the Archer of the Woods. there they discussed many things, but most importantly they established that she was no longer a threat and intended to adhere to the treaty her General has made with the Duindar. Among the conversations they had, clerity was given to the pair of them on the origin of the Watchers. They were created to watch over Aarandor, and were given their directive by the Gods themselves.

Action by Octalin for Army of Water

(Public Action, OOC Date: July 12, 2019, 5:15 p.m.)

Led by Shakian and Octalin, House Nerea leaves for its second expedition. This time equipped with a team of settlers and soldiers, as the first adventure revealed to Octalin a harbor to settle. The team of settlers will unload equipment, labor, and resources at the harbor while Octalin continues north to the other islands to return the items and secure peace for Aeran.

During their first expedition they encountered beings known as Sirens who held great contempt for elf-kind. It was revealed to him that a spear of theirs was taken. Octalin believes that if returned, it would grant the kinship an opportunity to settle the matter peacefully. Otherwise, with the assistance of Captain Elleth and her great fleet, a show of force would give these creatures a pause and protect Nerea's settlers.

Shakian will accompany Octalin to return the spear to the beings they met when they explored the islands north of the city. He will assist in negotiations and serve as an advisor (and bodyguard, if it should come to that).

Viessa will ensure that the expedition, or at least those Nerean ships under her command, does not fall prey to a vicious storm or some hidden shoal before it even has the chance to fall prey to hostile action. Never one to do things by half she pours over the preliminary charts from the previous expedition, and makes herself as agreeable or disagreeable as necessary to anyone who might provide information the charts cannot. She has a noticeable, and notably un-navigational, interest in these "Siren" beings. Also never one to trust a peace mission to end in anything even resembling peace, she makes sure the crew of her ships are ready to follow her if it becomes necessary to continue diplomacy by other means.

Captain Elleth will request from the Admiral 1 of the Fleet's finest galleons and 2 additional smaller ships to set sail under her 'command' but via the direction of Kinlector Octalin. She wants them armed and ready to responded if and only if his diplomatic efforts fail. While she has command of the ships - she will defer to his instructions of the situation. She will also serve as his bodyguard while he is speaking with or interacting with the Sirens.

Vindal has the spear that was retrieved during the whale hunt, and tht is believed to belong to the Sirens. He will bring it with him on the expedition in order to return it. Additionally, he will offer blessings to all those going on the expedition and do the other things Aeran priests do when sailing.

Selandriel has a personal interest in finding these Watchers. She was present when the spear was found and helped identify it and bring it back to Lorawin. She wants to meet this group, learn more about them and protect those on the expedition. She won't interfere with the Nerea's plans. She's just along for the ride.

With command now of the Celestial tongue, Nalaea will offer to help speak to any they come across that do not speak the Elven tongue. Particularly any Watchers they may stumble across. She will provide translations, also, for any Celestial found on the way (such as ruins, items, etc.). In addition to this, she will help provide protection as/if needed, with both blade and magic. Lastly, she?ll assist Vindal in his priestly duties to provide blessings. And she?s capable on a ship, to boot (no dead weight here!).

Having had particular success with his own watcher, Erotas will be continuing to make up those guides for the translation of Celestial to Elvish so that the Aeran have a greater chance of being able to make peace with the so-called Sirens.

Mihris is going to offer protection for those aboard. Both with spear and shield if need be. Though if efforts are are successful for a peaceful resolution there will be no need. This being said she is keeping a watchful eye out for those beings called 'sirens'. She has also been practicing the language of the Celestials to aid in translating for the group so that there is no miscommunication.

Kinlector Erotas Egilion had spent time with most of the diplomatic envoy prior to departure, teaching them Celestial. He also took the time to instruct each of them with all the knowledge he has about watchers and their purpose, in the hope that it will better prepare them for the negotiations ahead. His teaching could mean the difference between success and failure.

The first stop on the journey is to a Harbor on the island just across from Lorawin. There Octalin and Shakian offload a bit of building materials and a crew ready to start construction just as soon as the negotiations are over. Shakian in particular has set his mind to strategic settlement building and is determined to see this project through, one way or another! That settled, they sail on to a much smaller island to the north. The exact spot they encountered the Watcher General and his massive cloak of water not but a month or so prior.

The few ships that set sail towards the northern island do so in a tight formation. Captain Elleth Alcaldia is commanding the ships as a whole, and doing a very effective job of it. Everyone is calm and collected under her command. Viessa Nerea has command of the point in the formation as they head in to Watcher Territory. She keeps her eye on the horizon, looking for oddities and movement on or in the water that might call them to their target. Not much longer after the northern island comes in to view does she spot something. Creatures rising up out of the water. One very large one in the center makes his presence known. Three times as tall as any of their ships, he stands, made of water with a flowing cloak behind him. She knows that is their target and directs the fleet to them under Elleth's direction.

Over the open water, deep in the Realm of Water, Kinlector Octalin steps forward to speak to them, and offer a peaceful approach. He lays out their intent. To build, to develop, to protect this realm. And the Watcher General seems receptive. In Celestial, he speaks:

"Before we can discuss terms, I asked you to bring what was taken from me." The Watcher general says in a booming voice, stern and powerful.

With that, Octalin motions for Wave Speaker Vindal to come forward. Vindal presents the spear to the watcher first, telling the tale of the whale hunt and the research done to discover the origin of the spear. He requests that it be given back to the Sirens as a sign of good faith. At that, the Watcher leans in to take a good look at it. His watery head shakes a little as he speaks. "This is not what I seek. The Sirens who would care for it live deep beyond the eastern islands." He gestures to the east and those who hear his words get the sense that he means perhaps a 400 mile sail from here. That settled he stands waiting, towering over the ship as he watches Vindal.

Vindal, eventually, produces another weapon. A sword, curiously curved and marked with waves. He holds it out to the watcher with a gracious smile. "I apologize for my unintended thievery. And I am glad to see such a blade returned to its rightful owner."

Though the blade fits Vindal's hands perfectly, when the much much larger Watcher takes it from him, it somehow fits the watchers hands perfectly now. The sword seems to adapt to the owner. Looking quite pleased with the gestures, the watcher looks to Octalin and the others. "Now, I will hear your terms."

Kinsless Selandriel Marindur steps forward first. She begins asking questions about their intent and their purpose in these waters. Curious and genuinely looking to understand what they are and why they are here. A shrill shrieking from under the water can be heard in the distance as she asks her questions, and eventually the Sage makes her presence known beside the General. None have seen her until this moment, though her shrill shrieking is familiar to Selandriel. The Sage speaks to answer her questions.

"By divine nature we were created, with divine purpose we were set loose. Realm of Water, Watchers of the Deep, Protectors of the Shore. We are the web of defense in Aarandor's grace." She explains with a gracious bow of her hear.

Initiate Nalaea Reymar stepped forward next with a message about how her people worship Aereth. She explains that the Goddess of the Sea is the one who bought the elves to Aarandor and through her, they were saved from certain death. High Priest Tykalos stepped beside his initiate to help reinforce her message. He makes a bit of a speech about the meaning of home and their dedication to the sea. Both watchers seem hesitant at first, but eventually grow more comfortable as the name of Aereth is spoken with respect and compassion.

When the watcher Sage spots Dame Mihris Alcaldia in the back of the ship, translating for the others, she speaks to Mihris directly. "You have been given a gift by the sea. I hope you will find what you seek to the east. In the meantime, take this knowledge and learn to work with the water more purposefully." Something in that moment happens, and the Knight at Sea feels a sudden rush of lifewell wash over her. When she looks down at the deck beside her, a very small, very worbally elemental is standing at about the height of her calf.

That finished, the Watcher General and Sage look to Octalin and the rest of those on the ships. "What you seek is a place to call home. What we need of you is a willingness to help us defend the Realm of Water, if we are to cohabitate. We will let you go without assault, for now. You have one weeks time to come back with an oath we can mutually agree on."

With those final words, the Watcher General emerges back into the water, the Sage following behind him with a shrill shriek. The waters are still again, the sea of elementals absorbed back into the water they came from. The envoy flags down their counterparts to the south and begin the journey home! There is still a decision to be made, and one week to make it in. But the negotiations went well and there is prose of true peace on the horizon.

Action by Erotas for Army of Trees

(Public Action, OOC Date: June 28, 2019, 8:36 p.m.)

Erotas is headed out (possibly with others if they do so in assists below) in order to make his way towards the last known location of the Archer. Before they go, the man will be divesting himself (and searching any others if they choose to come with him) of all weapons including magic crystals.

When they make their way, the bard will be singing a song in Celestial - one composed to honor the land and those who have come before it. It's something of a plea to lay down arms and be open to alliance if not assimilation or cohabitation. And, should anyone else come along, he is willing to act as a translator for their efforts.

Turgon cannot go and help Erotas, but he can pray. He will go to Garwen's shrine in Thelos and kneel before her altar and ask that she watch over the party. While he already serves in the Argent Knights, he will offer her even more service if she requires it of him and will join her Priesthood as a member of the Faithful. He doesn't have it in him to be a priest or anything like that, but he will defend her priests and her shrine and all of her works for as long as he still draws breath. And so at the end of his prayer he will pledge his sword to always be drawn in the name of good.

She'd go, if she could. It'd probably be a very BAD idea if someone let her, but she'd go.

Instead Azariah is trying out this praying thing, taking the time to plead with Acharon to help sway the hearts of the Watcher, to pray for the words of the diplomatic party to reach fertile grounds....Other such ways of asking for favor blatantly stolen from other kinships.

Kaelyn is giving prayer to her beloved Garwen to guide Erotas on the purest of paths to help him try and convey good will to the Watcher of the Trees. It is his desire to follow the path he considers the right one and Kaelyn is giving him blessings to help with that.

If the Gods will it she will go with him but considering she does not have that high of favor with the duindar she is sending her good will with him.

Having been at this whole priest of Acharon thing a while, Katara is quite able to send along the best sorts of thoughts and prayers. They implore the Lord of Emotion to strike into the hearts and minds of this Watcher and Archer, to make them overcome with the feelings evoked by the messages of peace. They press themselves into it, extolling the virtue of this attempt as something new - never before attempted with these watchers. Maybe now it will see time for real change in the Duindar way of life.

Kiros will be traveling along with the older Egilion. While very nervous, they are quietly determined. Kiros isn't much of a talker, instead letting Erotas take the main focus to do his peace making performance. Kiros, meanwhile, supports him with something that can go past the language barrier: Prestidigitation. Kiros weaves beautiful, detailed illusions--first of spectral elves bowing, showing respect while also pleaing for peace, a sort of illusionary white flag. From that the illusions change to fit Erotas' song. Images of Duindar elves dancing and singing, as if joining along with the song. Elves giving prayer to the gods, of tending to the forest. It shows snapshots of the best of the Duindar--their faith, their art, their love of nature, and need to preserve it. Hopefully it will pair well with Erotas' song, and help inspire the Archer to consider diplomacy.

Elizaldian will be helping to fund the expedition, as well as sending a series of treaty documents along with the party. He will be hopeful for their success, while staying in Isalspire, and helping the efforts from the Senatorial Chambers.

In Thelos, among the other various shrines, a different sort of prayer is taking place. Turgon Aenorr is knelt in prayer at the top of the Dias of Garwen, praying to the Goddess of all that is Good. Lady Priestess Kaelyn Serannar kneels beside him and offers her own prayers for kindness to be taken into consideration by those who would seek negotiations in the forest. Their words carry out hope to the forest north of Isalspire.

At the top of the waterfall that cascades down the western side of Thelos, Dame Azariah of the Knights of the Barbed Star prays to Acharon. Her words are filled with hope that the God of Potential will bless chance to strike with perfect timing. Priest Katara Geminiel sits at the base of the very same waterfall, just by chance, and offers their own prayers for Acharon to see that passion for peace is embraced. Both of their words carry out ambition to the forest north of Isalspire.

And out in the forest north of Isalspire itself, two travelers wander among the trees in the direction they think they might find the watcher of the woods. Erotas and Kiros Egilion have prepared a few songs in celestial that talk of peace. They carry on them no weapons and indulge only in the magic of illusion to go along with their songs. Their journey takes them nearly two days away from Isalspire itself, but eventually, they find their intended audience.

The figure of a woman appears in the treetops and very quickly crouches down, revealing a bow in her hand. She draws it back slowly as she speaks in the celestial tongue. "That is a very lovely song coming from a people who must certainly be deaf. I know I made no mistakes in very clearly telling you to stay away from these woods, intruders." A moment after she speaks, two arrows go flying into the trees to either side of Erotas and Kiros. The trees creek and uncoil their roots, quickly snatching up both Erotas and Kiros, keeping them held tight. "Let's put you back where you belong." Says the Archer as she points them towards Isalspire.

Action by Erotas

(Public Action, OOC Date: May 9, 2019, 9:36 a.m.)

Following the singing in the inn, Erotas is gathering the greatest minds (obviously those attached to Egilion) to seek out any hints as to what this mystical song may have been. He's so far translated and send out the clue to the others. Now it's time to organize a good investigation. He goes out to talk to others, gathering intel by word of mouth as he has a preference for.

Agis, being the biased and loyal priest they are, obviously assumes that this song is somehow related to Brundir, and the stars. But they do their best to check this theory. They look through religious texts in the Shrine of Brundir's library, trying to find any reference to connect this to Brundir--or to any other gods.

Danai is going through her own notes, as hse takes notes on /everything/ she learns about o hears about. She is tapping into the more mystics of her research. She is also using books available at the Acadeum.

Diagones returns to her library once more, poring over tomes, using her intellect and keen detective skills to look for stories, myths, or wisdom from the Gods written down, that may relate to the song. She has learned the language of the Celestials to help her hear the song in its original and in Elvish translation, that she may find things it could relate to. She has been learning of the writing on the portals through Thorin, and has spoken at length with him about the meanings of the portals - searching high and low for tidbits relating to the song.

In the weeks that follow the strange singing in the Riverbreak Inn, little comes by way of obvious information. But when a group of intellectuals starts to put their minds and resources together, things begin to be eliminated and a more clear picture of what was happening begins to emerge.

Erotas spends his time charming the people of Isalspire, gathering what information he can from what they may have seen or heard from that day. The singing was, after all, only audible for about 24-hours. The only real shred of information he gets is that the normal day bartender of the Inn noticed some of his regular patrons were hanging around much longer than usual. Tharnor Naevon was singled out, but really only with a slight shrug. The bartender seemed rather fond of the old elf's company.

Agis waited until the sun was well behind the mountains and the sky has begun to fill with starts. He pulled out his spyglass to gaze up at the heavens, and while he saw the twinkling of the night sky in all of its glory, nothing out of the ordinary came from that endeavor. Whatever this song was, Brundir clearly had nothing to do with it.

Diagones spent days pouring over documents and books brought here from Larandor, searching for more information about the Celestial language in the song itself. She didn't find anything that seemed immediately obviously connected, but she did find another mention of an ancient song in Celestial coming from the records of ancient Khelwen in the Crystalline Peak. She copied down the section and kept it aside, just in case.

It was Dani, though, who uncovered the true secret of the song of the Riverbreak Inn. It was an illusion. The pattern, the strength of voice to those most sensitive to the lifewell, the almost mimicking sound of the celestial singing. It all came together as she looked through her notes on vocal projections and illusion. This song wasn't coming from some divine spirit trapped in the Inn. It came from one of their own.
