Initiate Phaedra Alcaldia
Every time I slip into the ocean, it feels like coming home.
Description: Phaedra's passion for the waves is rather obvious in her very build and stature. She's athletic and streamlined, slender rather than curvy. Long copper hair falls down to her hips, streaked through with lighter gold-tones from time spent in the sun. Phaedra's smile is almost always a little crooked, perfectly complementing her tendency towards a bit of sass and side-eye.
Personality: Phaedra's moods have always, always reflected the weather. Storms at sea leave her surly and irritable, prone to isolating herself to watch the tempest pass. Calm days offer far more cheer and goodwill, only enhancing her lust for adventure. She definitely enjoys long walks by the ocean, no matter the time of day.
Background: Born to Alabrax and Amariah Alcaldia in 74 BA, Phaedra was a light of hope for her parents. After the reaping of an older sister, she was almost like a second chance. Phaedra grew up with a passion for the sea, just like the rest of her family. While her older siblings were mostly sailors, she took every chance she could to dive off their ships and explore under the waves along the coastline. She found several little islands and the odd air-holding aquatic cave in which to catch her breath, but she could never go as far or deep as she desired.
On her fiftieth birthday, Phaedra joined Aereth's priesthood as an initiate. She could feel the waves sing in her soul, and had promised her life to Aereth decades before. There are secrets in the sea, she felt, that needed to be found and explored. There was so much to learn, to see-- so much for Aereth to show her, and so much for her to do for the goddess.
When the Host arrived, Phaedra remained under the waves. She wasn't a warrior, nor a great healer, but she could look instead for somewhere safe. An underwater haven, or perhaps an island just far enough away that the Host wouldn't find them.. She emerged from the sea as word of Aereth's mercy began to spread, gathering her family and rallying the elves towards a new home. On the voyage, she was often in the water, fishing and scavenging to supplement the food they'd managed to bring with them-- and later, trying to save as many elves in the storms as she could. Unfortunately, her mother was not among those few.
Now in Aarandor, Phaedra has dedicated herself to her priesthood, her family, and the exploration of this new sea. Working quietly with her family, so far, but finally ready to delve into the sea once more.
