High Lord Gariss Keir
This precarious situation we have found ourselves in will need careful consideration and planning to overcome.
Description: Broad shouldered with a very stern presence, Gariss is an elf not to be underestimated. His natural physique is muscled and toned, with strikingly angular features. Dark hair is kept in intricate warrior's braids, out of his face and behind his shoulders. His right hand bares a scar that has left the skin black in tendrils that whirl around his wrist, rending him unable to use that hand properly.
Personality: Disciplined and stern, Gariss is a typical warrior at heart. Though his mind is anything but typical. He is thoughtful and considerate in hes dealings with others. But more so than anything else, he is analytical. Gariss likes to take a look at a situation from all sides before making a decision. When pressed, he will decide, but his preference is to give it time. Laughter is seldom herd from him, but his voice is a deep, pleasant thing that can brighten a cold room.
Background: The former General of the Faenor Military and former Grandmaster of the Knights of the Argent Moon, Gariss Keir is no stranger to war. He helped to protect the Faenor in their mountain home for several centuries against those who would seek to disturb their solitude. And he was there when Ithriel Elexia came with her envoy to convince them to come down from their mountain and help heal the scar. Standing guard in the Throne Room, listening to the five High Lords of the Faenor debate with her, he was thoroughly intrigued. And so, when the decision was made to send a small host of troops down to the Scar, Gariss offered to take some of his knights with him, leading the group. He had heard stories of the Scorched Earth War, but no words would prepare him for the sight he saw. More miraculous yet, he was not prepared to experience the strength of their unity and the blessing of Gala to restore the Scar. It changed him.
It changed him so much that when the Harbingers were discovered, he was one of the first to offer to round them up. No shred of darkness would place a wedge between the alliance of the Elves again. His decision to get involved would cost him the use of his arm. Though not much of the incident itself is remembered, he does recall one of the harbingers carrying a three-tongued whip, inky black and poisonous. It wrapped itself around his wrist and left behind the debilitating wound that lead to the black scar he has today.
Unable to keep fighting, Gariss retired from the sword and took to the books instead. And when his time to take the Throne of House Keir came, he felt ready to lead his family selflessly. It was only when he was well in to his 600th year that he decided to marry. His wife, Salin of House Ingith, was as beautiful as she was kind. It softened his war-hardened heart and made him the thoughtful, considerate leader he is today. They had two children, a daughter and a son, by Brundir's grace. The crossing to Aarandor took her life, though his two children survived. He finds himself now picking up the pieces and preparing his daughter for her eventual rise to the rank of High Lord.
