Head Scholar Diagones Egilion
Everything that happens should be recorded and all these records should be precisely organized.
Concept: Keeper of the Library
Hair Color: White Blonde
Eye Color: Blue
Marital Status: Married
Description: Diagones is a petite elf, standing shorter than most elves, with delicate ears that are pierced in several places linked by elegant chains. Her long white blonde hair is kept tidy at all times, sometimes braided at the crown and left long, sometimes braided entirely, sometimes simply brushed to a brilliant shine. This shine echoes in the blue of her eyes, sparkling with a keen intellect and curiosity. She has an aura of boundless energy about her, and frequently moves her hands while speaking, or fidgets with her legs while studying or keeping quiet. The Head Scholar's skin is lily white, with a smattering of freckles across her high cheekbones and nose.
(Diagones hair is wound into a large bun on top of her head, stuck through with silver sticks to hold it in place. Tendrils of hair escape the bun and gently curl about her face and neck. She smells of rosewater and snow-covered ivy. She's looking rounder about the middle.)
Personality: Diagones embodies Acharon's ideals of constant improvement and innovation, always questioning and seeking the truth. She has boundless energy and enthusiasm, especially when it comes to pursuit of knowledge and recording it in her Libraries. Not HERS, per se, but she considers the Grand Libraries her babies, and speaks of them as living, breathing things. She's very particular about where things go and how things are arranged, both in her professional and personal life. Her fussiness extends beyond her love of the libraries, touching everything she does. She is warm and always excited to meet new people who share her love of change and exploration, who don't want to sit still and wait for life to happen. Diagones never sits still.
Background: Like most Duindar, Diagone spent part of her childhood in the Great Library learning to archive and scribe information. She took well to it, finding a joy in discovering a new text or seeing nearly arrayed rows of books all properly sorted. She devoted her early life to the library, tapping the Lifeswell for Prestidigitation to help her shelve and sort the books.
When the Great Debate started over whether or not the Duindar would leave with the other Kin, she begged for the books to be brought along. Her greatest fear was another book burning like in the ancient War of Devotion and preserving their knowledge was important. It wasn't enough to survive, they needed to thrive. Head Scholar Abascus put her in charge of packing and preserving what knowledge they would take along. They couldn't bring EVERY book so she served on the election committee to decide which would and wouldn't be packed. She mourns the loss of each book.
When Scholar Abascus was lost at sea during the Third Migration, the other Librarians voted Diagone their new head. It was a position she took well to, overseeing the shelving of the Isalspire and starting the process of unpacking and cataloging their works. She encourages people to write new books and pays what she can for copies of books other Kins May have.
She believes in the pursuit of knowledge at any cost as there is nothing more important than the truth. Very particular about the library and how books are shelved, almost to the point of OCD.
Marriage: Diagones Egilion married Thorin Aenorr on 11/15/52 PA. He joined her family, becoming Thorin Egilion.
Jarlanen - Jarlanen Sedriel is a Thalerith 'scholar'. By that I mean he keeps everything in his head and recites oral histories. How preposterous. What if he dies? Or his memory fades? But what do you expect from those barbarians. I've still not forgiven them for destroying all those books, even if that was during the War of Devotion some 5,000 years ago.
Elstrin - If it wasn't for Elstrin's mastery of prestidigitation we would not have as grand a library as we do now. I owe her much for helping to create the home for our new collection. If I can help her further her research into shaping our treetop home then I will.
Aurri - The young Lorandi prince is a studious boy, and Diagones adores talking with him over books and cats. He seems to enjoy cats. She believes someday he will be a brilliant Evocationist. She can feel his magical talent rising, and it's something spectacular to behold. She is honored to have him as a friend.
Belstrom - The High Priest of Acharon surprised Diagones. He's Thalerith, but supportive of her curiosity, her books, her love of learning. He's helped her get the Grand Library of Thelos off the ground, and he's comforted her when she's been upset. He's a confidante, and Diagones is pleased that the two have become friends.
Celenia - The Aereth priestess is a close friend, someone Diagones can confide in, or let her hair down with and just have a good time together. Diagones loves to spend time with her friend, even if work and books get in the way sometimes. It is Celenia who taught Diagones the value of gossip and being vulnerable - important qualities for success.
Erotas - Uncle Erotas is a mystery sometimes, but Diagones knows she can count on him. He's flamboyant, sometimes embarrassing, sometimes drunk, and sometimes jokes about books being kindling. But he never ceases to have Diagones' back when it is needed, and she loves him - even if she doesn't always understand him.
Trevarius - Trevarius is a familiar face in my library. He's always asking for the oldest of books, even if he seems obsessed with the newly discovered Host. I have to drag his discoveries out of him because he's always silently reading.
Rawlin - The High priest of Loran is a dreamy sort. Not the physically attractive dreamy but the lost in the clouds dreamy. He always has kind words for me when we interact in the Shrine.
Abascus - I had nothing but respect for Head Scholar Abascus. He taught me so much about the wonderful world that was the library. We disagreed on shelving structure but what librarian doesn't? His death was a tremendous loss to the academic world.
Saqurius - My sibling Saqurius was just as obsessed with learning about the past as I was. They were a Senator for the Duindar, and served with distinction until their return to the wheel when the Tree Archer attacked the Isalspire in retribution for the Amethyst Order burning the city perimeter. I miss them every day.
Thorin - The most delightful, adventuresome elf in all Aarandor, and he has married Diagones. She counts herself lucky each and every day to have Thorin Egilion by her side, and can't wait to spend a lifetime writing their shared history.
Nyrena - It's hard to find good help, but Nyrena is definitely good help. She's also become a bit of a friend, which is admittedly surprising since I often find myself with no time for those. She's useful and resourceful and has been a boon to the Ishtari.
