Title Guide

Title Guide

Titles are a an important part of Ithir. However the level of importance is a little different depending on the kinship or group that uses the titles. This guide will attempt to give an overview of the titles used in the game, and how characters are to use it, and even how the titles interact with each other. Do note that in the case of gender neutral characters, they get to decide between the male or female version of a title, if a title has a male or female version.

=== Types of Titles ===

In Ithir there are different types of titles, generally we're grouping them as follows:

* Kinship Titles
* Priesthood Titles
* Organization Titles
* Merit Titles

=== Title Priority ===

Titles have either a high or low priority. A high priority title is used before the name, while a low priority title goes after the name, unless there are no high priority titles, in which case it can go before the name. In the case of two high priority titles, the most important one goes before the name, while the other would go after the name. In the case of two low priority titles, kinship titles usually trump religious, organization and merit titles.

Example: Lady Heir Talrin Keir, Grandmaster of the Knights of the Argent Moon

In the previous example, Lady Heir is a kinship high priority title, while Grandmaster is an organization low priority title. However, if Talrin was not a Lady Heir, her full name would be: Grandmaster Talrin Keir of the Knights of the Argent Moon.

=== Form of Address ===

A form of address is a version of a title used when addressing a particular individual. When addressing King Arminel for example, one would use Your Royal Majesty. If referring to him in the third person, it would be His Royal Majesty. They sometimes have informal versions. In the previous case, it would be, Your or His Majesty.

=== Kinship Titles ===

Kinship titles are titles given by the kinship. They usually are used to indicate someone's position within the kinship, although some titles might be given due to an individual's great service to the kinship. The kinship titles and how important they are to the kinship, as well as which titles have the most importance is very different from kinship to kinship.
